How it works

Physical fuel conditioning for more complete combustion

EcoImprove™ conditions fuel before injection: electromagnetic fields activate leaching and release nanoparticles from the conduit, promoting more complete oxidation without any structural modification.

100%

COMPLIANCE

EcoImprove was developed within DUKE’s Circular Industry Lab as an industrial response to the simplest yet most difficult problem: making what you already use burn better, without rebuilding the system.

The device is installed upstream, along the fuel supply line, and physically conditions the fuel before injection.

Inside the active body, electromagnetic fields are generated that trigger the patented principle of leaching: infinitesimal quantities of nanoparticles are extracted from the conduit during fuel passage and transported to the combustion chamber, where they promote more immediate and, above all, more complete oxidation. This recovers energy that would otherwise become pollutant, reduces residues and particulate matter, and stabilizes performance in real operation.

The same logic applies to heterogeneous fleets and systems (naval, railway, construction, port), with compatibility tested also on biodiesel, synthetic fuels, gasoline and marine diesel.

When required, we connect operational data to the DUKE web app under development, for continuous monitoring, comparable KPIs and ESG reporting that simplifies audits, tenders and bids.

In brief: intelligent retrofit, data-driven measures, and a clear trajectory of standardization and multi-site scalability.

  • Unlike exhaust gas aftertreatment systems, it acts upstream: improves combustion, does not filter and does not treat exhaust gases like DPF or SCR.

  • LCA compliant with ISO 14040/44 and PEF, with verifiable data inventory for assets and fleet.

  • Non-invasive: rapid in-line installation, uptime preserved even on 24/7 shifts.

  • Baseline, scenarios and KPIs: consumption, emissions, PN_PMP, operational ROI and compliance.

  • Machine data collection → dashboard → reports: continuous control and informed decisions.

  • Reports ready for ESG, CAM and tenders; optional integration with DUKE dashboard.

  • Ready to scale: uniform protocols, KPIs and reports for different fleets and sites.

Upstream retrofit, not downstream of the engine

EcoImprove intervenes before the engine, along the fuel line, not on exhaust gases.

The device physically conditions the fuel before injection: electromagnetic fields induce leaching and release infinitesimal quantities of copper nanoparticles, which in the combustion chamber promote more complete oxidation. Thus pollutants are reduced at the source, because combustion is more efficient and effective. Downstream retrofits (DPF or SCR) instead intercept exhaust gases to filter or convert them after combustion.

EcoImprove works upstream, requires no structural modifications and is non-invasive. It can coexist with downstream solutions, but distinguishes itself by aiming to improve the primary process: combustion quality.

  • Does not filter gases: improves oxidation for more complete combustion.

  • Non-invasive installation: integrates with existing fuel line.

  • Compliant with UNECE Regulation R10 (e3 08 1002, electromagnetic compatibility) and Directive 2009/19/EC (E3 10 R-04 1001) for safety and integration on existing systems.

  • ATEX certified (Directive 2014/34/EU) for use in engine compartments with flammable vapors.

  • EcoImprove™ technology is protected by patents EP2800893, IT 102018000003206 and CN 2012800653717.
